How did they even win? The Americans suffered more casualties. Offically it's a tie but America suffered more. All the Americans won was a fishing right in some Gulf.

and the treaty was forced on the british by the americans, the british didnt start the war to make peace, they intended to fight and win, and when they ran into other issues in europe and too much american resistance they admitted defeated and sued for peace. Whether UK was really losing or not, they lost the war when they submitted to peace treaty in a war they started with intentions of winning.

By other issues in europe, you mean napoleon conquest of europe? Right mate?
There was no winner in the war of 1812, but in european eyes america got humiliated when the British burned the capital. Back then losing the capital was a huge hit in your prestige and political power.

Hue, British blockade allowed AMerica to develop home industries and more self sufficiency. It also broke native american resistance allowing for future expansion. Also, no one liked the white house. It was cold because it hardly kept any air out, it had lights but the ones where you had to have the object on the light itself to see it and the fire place didnt work...... smoke from the fire place just went back into the house. If anything, war of 1812 was conspiracy to get British to burn it so there would be insurance money to rebuild a better white house, GG

P.S. 'Merica
