Why do people in movies sink when they fall in the water?

The density of the human body is lower than water's, especially sea water's, yet whenever someone who is unconscious or can't swim in movies falls into the sea they sink? If you do literally nothing, what happens is that you end up floating face-down (I've tried it), sure you'll drown but you won't sink...

On the same subject how do people swim with their eyes open? It hurts like hell and it doesn't offer much benefit since you only see a blurring mess (I've tried this as well)

Because everybody is diving down to have a tea party with Poseidon.

in salt water it hurts so does pool water because of the chemicals

i have no idea. it is the reason why i don't know how to swim but i know how to backstroke.
