What you tihnk about using icosahedron like the c60 fullerene and c540 fullerene to do a easily programable and almost correct sphere world?

The major problem is the twelve pentagons needed to do, but you can put how many hexagons you want to and still made an almost sphere world. With little error.

and a sphere world will be a great upgrade to the game

That is actully create another game.
They have to change a lot of thinks to do it.

Framework limitations. Also, creating a real sphere is much easier than programming all those individual points in an array or something like that.

But anyway, Silverlight doesn't have 3D acceleration so it would dramatically slow the game down, not to mention they'd have to remake the map scrolling, and zooming mechanisms, as well as draw paths behind units (when you move them) three-dimensionally.

And anyway, Afterwind's better with a flattened world (can't remember the technical name for this type of projection). Not that the Earth is fully spherical, mind you.

Mine idea is to build individualy all the areas and bound them together.

Just drown above the globe the lines of an C60, see what is inside the line, drawn, and do something to put two countries who are bound together, and a way to made travel correct

The ideia of sphere is to put a more profuns strategy

The point is, it just isn't possible. Silverlight can't do 3D things like that. And honestly, afterwind is probably best left a 2D map instead of a 3D map.

With Silverlight 5, it can.

But it would be ridiculously hard to implement on a pre-existent code base, especially one as big as Afterwind's.

That's kinda what I was getting at, thanks.
