This was a spinoff suggestion stemmed from another thread, as they wanted to try and give Chinese players a fair chance at resisting European players (As Europe tends to advance on them fairly quickly, taking a good portion of Asia with them). I decided that Asia could also use a little balancing, some less than realistic but good changes, and basically reworked a good majority of the continent (I didn't touch the middle east).

This is an extremely long suggestion, and took quite some time to decide on how to balance the area correctly. I hope my maps bring some credibility to it

Begin: China

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
First) Changes to Southeast Asia

Proposed change: Create a China: Central

Rough Map:

Purposes:

1) Splits incomes of Chine South and Southeast, creating militia there (North and Northwest get rebalanced to the same incomes, but they were already militia)

2) Provides a slightly more balanced China as well as a main area that would be fought over, rather than the constant capping each other and taking them back

3) Allows for the proposed change to some other Chinese regions

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Second) Change to China: Northwest

Proposed Change: Put Xi'an into China: Central and create Xining

Rough Map:

Reasons:

1) Allows a route into Wulumqi

2) A more spread out China (Instead of focusing ALL of their units in the Southeast)

Side suggestion: See if you can make this reachable from both Wulimqi and Lanzhou with Blitz

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Third) Changes to China: North

Proposed Change: Create Baotou & Chifeng, remove Hohhot (As well as Taiyuan in my previous suggestion)

Rough Map:

Reasons:

1) Rebalances income of China: North after creation of Central

2) Fills in empty zones to the far West and East of China: North

3) Makes the cities worth taking, whereas a lot of times Hohhot actually got ignored.

Side suggestion: If the admins, should this be implemented, could make some calculations, making sure that these two cities could reach as many cities while being in close proximity as possible would be preferable.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
End: China. | Begin: Russia

Fourth) Russia: Siberia

Suggested Change: Remove Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk, change reinforcements in Omsk and Novosibursk, create Abakan. Also split territory to create Russia: Mideast

Rough Map:

Reasons:

1) Provides more units close to (Doesn't create new units) defense of the European area

2) Allows for the creation of Russia: Mideast
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Fifth) Russia: Far East

Suggested Change: Remove Petropavlosk-Kamchatsky & Magadan, create Blagoveshchensk

Rough Map:

Reasons:

1) Removes pointless cities that nobody ever takes

2) Devotes some of the unused land to Russia: Mideast

3) With the third nearby city, gives people an actual reason to bother with Russia: Far East

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Sixth) Russia: Mideast

Suggested Change: Create the new country of Russia: Mideast

Rough Map:

Reasons:

1) Provides a slight boost to the usefulness of the entire Russian region, giving reason to claim it

2) Connects northern Asia together a bit better (Less spread out)

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
End: Russia. | Begin: Misc.

Seventh) Kazakhstan

Suggested Changes: A huge buff. Doubled income, adding in Kostanay and Jezkazgan while nerfing Almaty to reduce the ridiculous troop creation. Boost to troops all around.

Rough Map:

Reasons:

1) Kazakhstan is in the top quarter of nations by GDP, yet somehow one of the poorest on the AW map.

2) Kazakhstan isn't easily defendable.

(Side note: This is going to be a controversial buff, I'm sure. It's giving Kazakhstan a lot of power over most of Northwest Asia, probably even making it a playable starting country for the first time. It's open to changes, but I think this would truly be a spot that the Chinese could actually finally use to defend themselves once they own the Northwest, rather than a bunch of open, poorly reinforced countries)

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Eigth) Splitting India

Suggested Change: I couldn't even list changes to Asia without bringing up this topic or AW would have my head. Simple: Split India.

Suggested Split:

Reference Source:

Reasons:
So many people have offered so many reasons, exact ways that the money should be set up, stuff like that. I'm not going into any details, as someone has probably had a better idea for splitting than I'd have had. I'm just adding in the splitting India idea so that AW doesn't eat my soul.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

That's all the ideas I had. Some people may not like them, others may have good points about fixing them, or maybe I've just made the most perfect suggestion ever (doubtful). Just don't get all pissed off at me for suggesting them, I worked hard on trying to come up with a theoretical balance

Oh, and one last note: An extremely rough map of the finished reworked continent (If anyone's got time for a detailed one, they're more than welcome):

No new cities in China. It would harm scenarios because China would become extremely OP. And yes, people still play scenarios.
Although the northern portion of the Far East is the weakest like you often say, it still is extremely powerful, full of huge cities (8 units) and there's frickin' Japan too if you need it.

Splitting India, however, is a great idea which I've always rallied for.

The total troop count change in China takes it from 143 to 159. So yes, it is a bit of a drastic change that could possibly be reaccounted for (Perhaps shrinking Chifeng and Baotou to knock it back down a bit)

However, the only places where cities were actually added in were areas that were tough to move troops around in before (Created a city bridge between North and Northeast, filled the ridiculous gap between Lanchou and Wulimqi) and seemed to be necessary for the defense of China's borders closer to Europe, nowhere near as much areas that it would often be fighting in scenarios (To the South, to the East).

As for the Northern areas of Asia, they're not full of 8 cities. The closest area to where Chinese Russia and European areas tend to collide that has cities of 8 is the single city of Wulumqi, the rest of China literally has to cross the entirety of the largest continent in the world to try and defend it, causing a large disadvantage as you have to pay for your units three times the amount of time that your opponent does.

The changes in Russia are to cause it to be at least somewhat capable of self-defense, though it's still going to need large amounts of support from India and China, more than likely, to hold off any European invasions that get launched at it. The only changes in Far East are the creation of Mideast and the movement of cities within Far East, the Mideast barely provides many units and Far East doesn't gain or lose any troops.

I can see where you were going with not trying to make China OP, definitely, but I think at the least replacing Hohhot with Chifeng and creating Xining would be helpful.

But it is still too damn strong in Eurasia and world games, when you can get to the point at which you control an entire bloomin' continent. China, or Asia as a whole, can beat a unified or allied Europe and Africa with relative ease (even I have done this). The same goes for world games in which China invades the west coast of the USA. 159 bombers every 3 turns, fancy that. I think China need to be debuffed a little, if anything. There are already loads of cities in the region. Remove a couple from the south of China and it will be perfectly balanced, leading to fair North-South Chinese wars and fair world and Eurasia games.

I'm divided on giving a buff to Kazakhstan and dividing up Russia. Russia: Ural is quite defensible in Europe-Asia wars. Kazakhstan and (more rarely) Russia: Volga get the brunt of the action, along with a bunch of Central Asian states. I think this "weak zone" of sorts makes things more interesting and more balanced. Splitting up Russia further would probably help out Asia even more than it already is. There are no particularly large cities in this region.

Whatever world games you're playing, you've either gotten to be extremely experienced at China (Not all too many people do this, mostly just the really high ranks [I personally play China a ton]) or your enemies in Europe occupied each other longer than usual.

Generally, a European nation will control a good part of Asia, including Russia: Volga, most of the middle east, and northern Africa, giving them quite the advantage over a player who simply owns the India/China area.

More often than not, the amount of Infantry you need to kill in India and China slow players down so much that they never even reach Volga or even farther than Iran, normally. The area I showed on that final map is the area that most Asian players get cut off at, typically right before getting attacked by either North America (Which then fails) or Europe (Which typically succeeds).

And while having 150+ reinforcements in China is nice, remember that it a good third of the area's landmass, and where the most units in Asia come from. Yes, Asia as a continent is powerful, but in most cases Europe ends up owning a good portion of it before Chinese nations (As they're the most commonly played) ever reach the area.

Nor have you ever lost to Europe as Asia, probably.

You know why? *puts on Italian-American accent* Because you're goddamn Arbitrator and anyone that fucks with you gets their ass handed to 'em.
