Hi - I've recently thought of a new idea that would prevent ally fags in free for all games. If the host that is hosting the free for all game could have the option to turn Private chat off for all players in his game, that would prevent people from messaging each other and asking for secret ally. Of course, secret ally never works in a free for all game since there can only be one winner. But it would prevent 'peace treaties' being made via private message. I think this would make the game fair for everyone in these free for all games. Please let me know what you think.

Some things need to be kept private. Others, like you suggested, could use an option in the scenario options.

You know the thing is. FFA used to be respected. People from the same clan actually fought for the game and had fun. Now its all about people just joining to ruin someone else's game, or they peace fagg their friend and clanmembers. I find it utter pathetic that even those people cant even do 1 game for themself without secret allying someone just to win and then leave. If you join a worldgame for example with the idea of secret fagging someone, then why u join a FFA worldgame in god sake? Locking private chat or roomchat or anychat will only make it not fun to play since no chatting is allowed.. The problem is at the people not the settings or the game. There should be some public humaliation thread or banlist or whatever kind of thing that will make these people think twice before their action. It seems that ALOT of people in AW care so much about their status that if they decide to ruin a FFA game admins/moderators should do something against it like being labeled as rule breaker or something. Note: I am not talking about noob lowranks but about all ranks, its not only lower ranks who do this even the people who think they get ''respected'' do this cheapy thing.

Even if you block private messages, they'll just agree on peacing each other on public chat... people aren't ashamed of doing so. As Waffel says, the problem isn't the chat, it's the people playing. I don't like to insult but for these kind of people I'll make an exception: they are some scared whores who will sell themselves for free just for living another few turns. Just pathetic.

I like the idea of a true ffa... however, i think the conditions would be so restrictive no one would play... However, here's a couple ideas to add to make a true ffa: 1. Communication restrictions are pointless... i imagine a worst case scenario where two people are in the same household, looking at each others screen, with separate isp's. 2. Given that, once game play begins... The first turn, you are allied to everyone except one 'primary target' whom you must destroy first. This is so there is a possibility for the two 'would be secret allies' to be forced to play each other based on chance. 3. The computer randomly generates your home country based on a pre-selected list, and pairs your 'primary' opponent with someone of relatively equal strength. 3. After eliminating your primary target, all opponents become 'fair game'. 4. You must then attack any player who has a country that borders you, or is within a certain range for ocean nations (perhaps 10)... failure to capture a city against an opponent turns any border territories 'neutral'. (This forces you to attack all neighbors with 'force'... even a 'secret' ally, or else lose territory.) Again, i doubt most people would enjoy these restrictions, but this is one way to prevent or severely limit the benefits of a secret ally.

In other games, players that FFAs are given random names to prevent communication. That could be an option.

Even if you give people random names, how would that prevent secret alliances?

Random names that can't be messaged. But still, secret alliances can always exist with external programs like skype or some other kind of chat.
