Ladies and gentlemen, the day has finally arrived when we can release the HTML5 map editor into the wild! From this day on, all new maps should be made and edited in the new editor, with the old Silverlight editor reserved only for editing old maps - until we satisfied that the new editor is safe and won't ruin hours of your painstaking work.

So, to reiterate:
- Starting from this day, you can only use the HTML5 editor to create new maps
- All maps created in the HTML5 editor can only be edited there
- Maps created in the Silverlight editor can only be edited there for now, until we deem it safe to completely switch to the HTML5 editor and finally kill off the SL one
- Scenario editor should follow shortly, first on the test server and then on live

Please report the bugs you find, we'll do our best to fix them asap.

Could you add a free hand drawing tool in the editor? thanks

Unfortunately it's a lot more complicated than it sounds. Borders are created by adding points and then connecting them with straight lines. Hand drawing will have to place a lot of points, very closely, and will most probably result in extremely slow performance - when editing and when playing.

In the old SL editor (we need them to edite old maps) the bug of its impossible to save borders is still on. I hope soon someone can fix it.

We're planning to get rid of the SL editor as soon as the new one has proven to work. The reason you currently can't edit older maps in the HTML5 is that we don't want them by broken by some yet undiscovered bug.

I was testing the HTML editor and occasionally it would make the borders I was drawing seriously thick (as seen in the image) This makes it needlessly difficult to draw borders since it hurts precision.
I get that there is probably some kind of use for this so you're probably not going to remove it but at least make an option to turn it off.

edit: there should also be a way to make lakes.

Congratulations, I hope was worth all the blood sweat and tears put into it. I haven't created in maps since the new editor came into concept as like you, I don't want to create something that is rendered useless because of a bug. But perhaps it's time to rethink that.

Take care and good luck.

It IS a new map. So, does that mean the map editor utilized on the website is the HTML5 editor, and the SilverLight editor is the downloaded version for Windows? I was never EVER able to save my maps on the website editor before (It said it was a preview version, and wouldn't let me save) regardless of SL or HTML5, and since a few months ago, I was never able to load my maps on the downloaded client.

Map editing is "art" in some way, that's something you have to find out yourself, sadly, you can't possibly expect Map Editor to tutorial everything you can't do on the editor, that'd overwork admins i'm afraid..

When do you predict that old maps will be able to be edited on the new editor? Is it more complex than it looks? Because on the surface the editor looks exactly the same as before, why would it not be compatible with old maps?

That's not the issue, they could enable the editing of old maps on the new editor right now if they wanted, the point is that the new editor is not yet fully-tested and they don't want us to lose our maps due to some undiscovered bug.

Hey, I keep getting a script error saying that Line 523 Column 192 requires an argument for the java script. I tried using a different browser and got the same result. This error in the script is making it unable to re-access any maps I recently saved. Thus I can't clone, save, or play any map of my own creation. Any ideas on how to fix this?
