I think it would be a really good update to speed things along in the bordering process, instead of having to trace borders over every country. Why not make it so when the borders connect from an previous country while creating a full new country without having to trace it back to the starting point. It would cut down on new map bordering and less tracing of already completed borders. If your lost in what im saying, try looking at it this way here you have 1 country finished in bordering you then start a new one next to it and the first country already completes 1 side of the new country, why should you have to trace back over the 1 already completed side to make a new country why not just make the 3 sides needed done and connect them to the other countries line instead of doing all sides back around to the starting point.

I have been experimenting with mapmaking since I got premium and I definitely support your idea. Not only would this save time, but it would make sure that the borders between countries don't look ugly.

Yes, something like the "pen" from Photoshop would be better for making borders, and something like you said, something to not to have to make borders for countries when they touch each other.

Copy the parts of the country that will touch new country. Paste it and drag it onto old country the borders should align perfectly (leave one node of near the ends of border so you can easy click new country). Finish the country by making new nodes on un-contested border and tweaking to perfection.

I tried copy pasting before, didn't work. Can you make a GIF?
