Right now I am at school and I am able to view the site and view the forums. I did this by using "https" instead of "http" and I went to "internet options > connections > LAN settings" and unchecked "automatically detect settings" and "use automatic configuration script" to remove proxies. I am using Internet Explorer btw.

But when I press the green "PLAY!" I enter the game. After that a pop-up dialog box asks me to "display mixed content". I answer either one. After that the game tries to connect but is unable to. Can anyone help?

btw I am able to make myself administrator.

Silverlight

Silverlight doesnt matter in this situation because Atwar contains:

A. Forums
B. A playable game
C. "Adult" content

Atwar is blocked indefinitely through the censors.

i can play it at my school w/ out block just needed to install silverlight so

Drewjdeg, Nothing is blocked indefinetely. It probably has something to do with the ports. I just don't know the workaround. If you don't know how to hack or don't understand how servers work please don't contribute to this thread.

This can be a case of the schools internet speed not being able to run AtWar (I know this sounds bad but your internet actually can be to slow for it) sometimes an internet connection will just time out in trying to load something cause of the connection speed being to slow, you could do a speed test on your schools net to see if thi is the case or not

I will try and get the port numbers from the admin team, hopefully that will help you to connect but you will probably need access to the router that carries your connection and to enter a demilitarized zone within the router. Usually you can enter the demilitarized zone in the router and change the port number to correlate with Atwar platform and the router default settings usually remain unchanged, you might need to investigate what ISP your school uses so you can find the IP for the router. The password will most likely be unchanged ( no challenge I know :/).

Try using the atwar client, if you have an admin access you should be able to play the game on the AW client, that may also help you.

Hope that helps and very best of luck with your school project

School is for learning, not for badly hosted server games.

AW is educational...

Statistics and basic math
Hand-eye coordination
Keyboarding
Probabilities (rolls for battles)
Geography
Resource Management
History (map dependent)
Cooperation and other social skills

and that's not even considering the wealth of critical analysis and other rich vocabulary found in the forums.

AW is an essential part of a complete and rounded edumacation.

I guess I can host a DMZ but I need the 192.168.#.# but I need the number I think so I can put it in the browser and bring up the site thing. But there are hundreds of computers at school connected to the same network.

I'm not even able to right click and get the client (standalone) because I can't connect. The "can't connect" box prevents me from clicking anywhere else beside the reconnect option.

After you have changed the password... I think the default router setting is 192.168.0.1 (it seems to be the default for most routers) then enter and enable DMZ (or the ISP equivalent) and change the last number from 1 to 102. Be careful though as someone with the same IP address will be able to see all the files on that computer so ensure there is nothing sensitive on that terminal.

Could you give me a step by step instruction on how to get to the router site. I tried putting 192.168.0.1 into the browser URL but it didn't give me anything. Also, I didn't get what you ment by "After you have changed the password... "

This is why you need to find out who the ISP is, as normally the router IP is info is in public domain. Also I didn't mean to say change password, I meant once you have bypassed the password on the router. apologies.
