My idea is to set this up as a "League" where each week a coalition is matched up with another and plays a match between them, and we do a round robin where each team plays all the others, followed by a playoffs of say the top 4 coalitions?

I'd suggest that matches be played as follows:

For each match-up there will be a "home" team and an "away" team
The "home team" gets to choose the map, while the "away team" gets to choose the victory conditions and starting money.

The matches will be played with a matching number of players on each team, depending on how many of each coalition showing up, with a minimum of either 2 or 3 players per team. The question is do we set up a specific weekly time as "league night" or do we allow the coalitions to set their own schedule based on availability of team members. The plus side to a coalition is always knowing when the games will be played, the downside is that depending when we set it, not everyone would be able to make it. The upside to setting the times themselves, the teams could make sure they have fuller participation, but it could be a pain for teams to figure out a time when both teams are available to field players....

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

Meh, sounds decent. I think it would work better with it's own gametype though.

I love this idea. It's like our own Afterwind Champions League.
A specific weekly time sounds good to me. If people can set their own schedule I believe many games will never happen in time, because you'll never be able to always have your best players attending.

I think this sounds great. We already have a thread about availability on the warborn board and I think most of us are around during the weekends

Fixed war-times could be difficult for smaller coalitions, especially when they are spreaded around the world in different time zones.

and personally, i would like to see that a "war" is voluntary. (no 1war/week) if i "have" to fight, i might dont like to. especially if i planned sth else. when i want a war or know when im able to play, ill ask some guys if the want and can play too and thats it.

but i dont know how other guys of my coalition think about it. just my thoughts.

Maybe, concerning coalition wars, the already bought upgrades should not be involved. it would be more equal, especially for younger players (if they want to participate), to have a fixed sp amount at every games start and youll have the ability to choose your upgrades youll need that will suit your strategy. i can imagine some older players bought a lot of MoS-upgrades but dont stick to this strategy anymore. but maybe thats too complicated and no one wants to buy the same upgrades every time because he always uses the same strategy. what do you think?

Coalition League doesn't have to be the ONLY Coalition Wars done, it just seems to be the easiest to implement NOW without the need for special tools--Not all coalitions need to be involved in the league either. Though that's why I suggested a match could be played with as few as 2v2 if a coalition couldn't field so many players in a week...This could be in ADDITION to other things like the system Marc Jr is proposing (see here)

So don't look at this as the ONLY way to involve coalitions--consider this the FIRST OF MANY suggestions for how to involve coalitions.

So given that--how's this basic format sound?
Which Coaltions would be willing to consider it?

I like the idea, specially if we fix a day and hour to make the game. I don't think people will feel they HAVE to play the coalition game, since there are other members on their team that can replace them.

I don't know if the other members of NoE will join it, but I know I will, doesn't matter how

Im going to have to say I do not agree. I think that is the reason to have these games is to earn SP and to get better... think about it... if you playing WoW your trying to get to the next level for armor a spell something.. that what keeps the game alive.. the same thange should be here.. now there will be some limit one upgrades people can get for their units but there are others that people have not thought of.

For example from my post in here... You could buy a Coalition Hall/Guild/War Room and then with in that you as a Coalition could donate SP to buy maybe upgrades like 1% bonus to SP for all players in that Coalition and another could be like a Burst Card "Each player in this Coalition may only use this card once(or twice with upgrades) per game, This Cards grans a Burst of speed to all units for 1 to 3 turns (with upgrades) this speed adds an additional 2 to 4 range (Yet again with different upgrades) to all players units" This is one of many cards that could be used and bought by a Coalition. I have more Ideas but this one just fit for today

let me know what ya think or this may get thrown into a different post again

Best way for learning any game is to play against experienced players.

As long as there isn't an option in-game to take out rewards, there's no need to deny the use of upgrades.

A map with similar side could have some use;see my post on ideas and suggestions

Agree I have played just one game with Mr Rank 1 and by god.. it changed me for life.. It really shows what you could learn from a more experienced player.

My only concern is how many coalitions members are going to be able to make a certain time and place for a game! Seriously, how often do you see more than 2 of your co-coalitioners online at the same time?

I don't think it will be needed, since getting 5 coalition members online at the same time is already a challenge.

All people need to do is agree on times to set the matches and then go from there. once people agree then it will be simple to set up bracket and times for people to play... I dont think people would mind as long as they have enough time to set up a match.. and if push comes to shove and a team is having trouble getting all the players for a game they could agree to move down to 4 per for just that game.. but in the end it could be set that they may have to play a 4 vs 5 game for example... but I think if we get enough people interested in doing this then we could set it up.

Coalition League, sure!

It would be nice if it is a 3v3 Coalition League, as our coalition exists of 3 members currently.

I will have to discuss this with my fellow Coalition Members though, before we sign in.
