I don't think it's happened, or is happening. Activity is about the same, maybe a little more sometimes, than it was a year ago. While not indicative of a proud up swell, it does indicate that the game retains it's players well. The death of this game is far off.

Its happening, well scratch that its happened, so many talented players are gone and so many noobs moved in, and instead of being a responsible community we just alow them to keep being noobs, i personally blame UN but each has there own oppinion, and i do think we still have a chance to revive the community but we have to act fast

It is dying, I'm kinda trying to save it or at least make it live a little bit longer by training newcomers and teaching them being good & intelligent and respectful players

RTWII, EUIV, and especially GTA V. All of them came out in late August to early September. I know I can't go back to playing AW unfortunately. UN is again a massive reason for this.

Once you play a Paradox game you can't go back. It has been a cycle of CK2, EUIV and VicII and maybe later even Hoi3. Maybe a mega-campaign? But seriously UN makes it impossible to start any other scenario. The second you start one a UN pops up and everyone leaves to join it. And IF you manage to take the time to fill it around turn 5 or so another UN opens up and there goes half your players. It is hard for me to enjoy a historical game when most of the major powers are gone. Paradox's multiplayers are way more complex and diplomatic for my tastes.

I do think it's slowly dying. These UN games are such a pain in the ass. Time after time after time, they fail and no one seems to understand that. Sure you may have a couple successful ones here and there, but for the most part they fail. It seems though the mods won't ban UN games, but most of the veteran community dislikes UN. They seem to ruin other games that people make, which are much better. Also, people leaving games within the first 5 turns is another problem, ruins the game right away and has to be remade. There should be a penalty for leaving within the first 5 turns (such as can't play a game for an hour or something like that).

Dude I have been suggesting a punishment for leavers ever since I first played atWar. But since the admins and mods hate player suggestions they refuse to do anything about it. When was the last time you enjoyed a full game for more than, what? 7 turns? Longest I got was 14/16 after 18 turns. though I was among friends.

I get bored of most games now, everyone runs away from me or people leave for no reason. It just messes up the game. And when trying to make a good wg or a great scenario, no one joins because of my rank. It's bullshit.

Being afraid of rank is pretty legit. It's the main reason I don't try to join competitive games that don't have people within a rank above me, I just get freaked out. I've been yelled at in chat waaaaaay too many times about how I 'killed the team' or some bullshit by that by 'veterans'. I would love to join scenarios with you, (as you are one of the reasons I love scenarios so much) but I can understand the hesitation.

NOT DEAD! The only problem that is stated is that most ppl don't care about normal games and just want to play un. All that need to be done is to bring in more players.

i agree with you, aw isnt dying. But AW go south. Too many high ranks left AW and only a few beginners fill their shoes. you should take a closer look: an example: people which reached lvl 10 (450k SP) in under 1 year playtime: 2012: Mauzer, avatar, brianwl ,Skittzo, Killingforfun, Macedonian, Chess, Babisili, val, cherse, eagle ,Humero, bonker2, creatin, luis, death wish, ghettosuperstar, longarm (he joined end of 2012), Paag, thunder, hydraon!?!and me so 19 and more players started 2012 and reached lvl 10 in under one 1 year playtime year 2013: thunderballs reach lvl 10 (and he left because this reason) commander (lvl 9 low activity) suicideme (lvl 9 and left aw) khal.eesi (lvl 9 and active) An other example: look at the online playerlist http://atwar-game.com/users/index.php?m_what=1&m_where=u.is_playing A few month ago, 15-20% of all online Players was lvl 8 or above. Now only 8%-12% of the current only players reach lvl 8 Thats the reason why so many players are afraid. High rank players prefer the game "duell" or "3vs3". If we cant find a adequate opponent, we will reduce our online time (step by step until we leave afterwind). our problem is: we (the residual high ranks) will leave AW, if you cant compensate this leakage. Standing stronger? Don't think so. I have, and many many others, noticed good players getting perma-banned. >Dead? Sorry, not going to happen! I don't know about you, but it seems like it's heading that way. Also, I noticed you replied to this thread, but why not my other thread about admins and how they can get involved into the community by responding to ideas and suggestions more often. I and others, just ask you guys to get more involved. Doesn't seem like guys do much anyways. I can understand if you are really, really busy, but then again it doesn't seem like it. It would be great for the community if you admins get more involved.

'You just realised' They are here, watching, behind our backs. Nah, I don't think so, I think they definitely are looking at all the stuff to do with all this mod crap, and about atwar dying blah blah. They probably select ones to read by their titles. It's what I would do.

First thing that you must understand is that AW is not dying, AW is changing. At the moment what is changing mostly the players of AW are Scenarios and Maps. So if you want to create a competitive comunity in AW the first thing you should change are the cartographers and scenario creators of this game. Also, something that is really important: most of the competitive players are stuck in one type of game, Europe +. This needs to be changed.
