How it can be military disaster when it is won war and survival of the Russian nation achieved? You don't know what you're saying.. Disaster was for Turkey who started to decay and was unable to conquer more Europe, disaster for Swedish Empire who couldn't oppress Finland and Baltic anymore, disaster for Poland who could not catholicize and torture Christians anymore, disaster for Mongol Horde who could not raid Europe anymore and trade slaves.

One of these wars were against much stronger opponent but still they end up defeated by Russia, like Grand Armee, Golden Horde, Wehrmacht.
Russia unforunately didn't participated in WW2 as a country, but still Russian people contributed 80% to total war effort and destroyed 80% of the enemy strength (100% of total sent on USSR). If Hitler respected non-aggression pact, he would simply send all those soldiers, tanks and planes on England, blitzkrieg it and then prep for Invasion of Americas. Sure Battle of Britain was defeat for Hitler, but English would not survive second wave of attack in 1941 - the force which was meant for USSR.

If there are no nukes in this WW3 you speak of, but purely conventional forces, East win.

For every Russian, 2 French died during Napoleonic wars, no country could've defeated the Grande armée in a pitch battle at the time. Russia won alot more battles then France during Napoleons campaign in Russia, most of these of small size, Napoleon won the big battles but it did not accomplish anything. First world war was mainly because of the communists, one could argue Lenin was a German spy, but still Russia lost because of communists. I am not saying they performed well in World War 1, especially the German front. The other fronts with Austria and Ottomans they were doing pretty well.

As you see, Russian general was actually a western spy, that's why lost battles.

Anyhow, Russia had 3 fronts (german/baltic front, austrian/romanian front and turkish/caucasian front) unlike other participants of WW1 which had 1 or 2. One front is hard enough to fight, let alone three.

And Russia did good on 2 of 3 fronts: captured few Austrian cities, made 1 million casualties for austrian army which crippled Austria never to recover and was beating Turkey, taking from them few cities and killing 100,000 troops, while losing from the Germans. So generally speaking, Russia did good in WW1, not bad, not decent, but good, maybe very good.

Germany had four fronts, Western Front against UK/France, Eastern against Russia, and also sent troops to the Italian front and the Austrian front against Russia and Romania
Austria had four as well, against Italy, Serbia, Russia, and Romania
