I know Ivan & Amok said they don't want to tell everyone what all the upgrades are, but I want to try and keep a list of all the upgrades we as players have seen. The list of all the upgrades I have seen is here: 50 - Submarines 1000 - Marines 1500 - Master of Stealth 2000 - Lucky Marines 3000 - Sky Menace 4000 - Militia 5000 - Air Transports 6000 - Lift The Fog 7000 - Lucky Infantry 8000 - Air Transport capacity 10000 - Faster Infantry 12000 - Lucky Militia 14000 - Expendable Infantry 16000 - Faster Marines 18000 - Blitzkrieg 20000 - Stealth 22000 - Expendable Marines 24000 - Faster Battleships 26000 - Cheap Transportation 28000 - Lucky Militia II 30000 - Lucky Marines II 32000 - Faster Submarines 36000 - Lift The Fog II 40000 - Lucky Bastard Submarines Unlocks a new unit: Submarine. Submarines are invisible to your enemy and are good for surprise attacks on ports and Transports. +1 defence agaisnt Bombers. Marines Unlocks a new unit: Marines. Invisible to your enemies, Marines can stage a surprise attack where they are least expected. Master of Stealth Unlocks a new strategy: Master of Stealth. Advanced Submarines and Marines at the cost of slower and less powerful tanks and battleships. Lucky Marines +10% to after-roll bonus chance for Marines Sky Menace Unlocks a new strategy: Sky Menace. Advanced Bombers and Stealths and instantly available Air Transport at the cost of weaker land units. Militia Unlocks a new unit: Militia. Very cheap poorly trained stationary troops, only good for basic defense. Air Transport Unlocks a new unit: Air Transport(for transporting land units by air) Lift The Fog +1 view range for all units Lucky Infantry +10% to after-roll bonus chance for Infantry Air Transport capacity +1 capacity for Air Transports Faster Infantry +1 movement range for Infantry Lucky Militia +10% to after-roll bonus chance for Militia Expendable Infantry -10 cost for Infantry Faster Marines +1 movement range for Marines Blitzkrieg Unlocks a new strategy: Blitzkrieg. +3 to movement, +2 to view range and -1 to attack for all units. Stealth Unlocks a new unit: Stealth. Stealth planes are invisible to your enemies. While not very powerful, they can fly far and attack where least expected. Expendable Marines -20 cost for Marines Faster Battleships +1 movement range for Battleships Cheap Transportation -30 cost for Transport and -50 for Air Transport Lucky Militia II +1 to max. after-roll bonus for Militia Lucky Marines II +1 to max. after-roll bonus for Marines Faster Submarines +1 movement range for Submarines Lift The Fog II +1 view range for all units Lucky Bastard Unlocks the Lucky Bastard strategy. +10 to after-roll chance, +1 after-roll, +30 cost for all units. And on another note, just because I'm strange. It bothers me how the grammar is inconsistent. -'The' in Lift The Fog is capitalized, but 'of' in Master of Stealth & 'capacity' in Air Transport capacity aren't capitalized. -The description for the Air Transport unit doesn't end in a period whereas the other unit descriptions end in a period. -The description of 'Lucky Bastard' follows a different structure. The other descriptions follow the structure: "Unlocks a new strategy: <Name>. <Description>. but 'Lucky Bastard' follows: Unlocks the <Name> strategy. <Description>. Yep... really unimportant nitpicks... just stuff I noticed. ......................... Some of this information is now out of date, more information later in thread. If anyone makes a new updated list with all the upgrades a mod should sicky that instead of this list. -king cow

Valid points. Fixed all, except Air Transports, which already had the period. Will be updated with the new service restart.

Not sure if that wouldnt be at all over powerfull or not but the stealth for all units would eliminate the need for mariens and stealth bomers which would be a huge advantage

Not at the moment. We don't want to empower the old players too much, so we'll try to figure out another way to spend SP's.

Maybe you could include vanity upgrades. They wouldn't improve game stats, but would do something fun that signals the player is a high level.

This isn't exactly the right topic, but it's a topic about upgrades so I figure I'll post here instead of making some new topic. But my question is, why aren't there any tank upgrades? Infantry and marines both get various upgrades, but why don't tanks? With upgrades infantry and marines can be FASTER then tanks, which isn't right (how can some guy running be faster then a tank that can travel at highway speeds?), I mean I don't use marines and I only use infantry for defending cities, so it's really a shame that my tanks can be so severely outclassed by marine users, or even infantry users, simply cuz they can upgrade their unit of choice while I can't. In short, I wish there were upgrades for tanks, +speed, luck, all the upgrades the other land units get. Kinda defeats the point of having multiple units if the only way to win is to use the same unit as your opponent (course, then his will be upgraded and yours wont, so you'd still lose).

There are no Tank updates, because they are already very powerful, and because they are a primary unit, adding upgrades for which is rather dangerous (old players will be overpowered). Infantry and Marines can be faster than Tanks, I don't see a problem here. You are assuming that they are moving entirely by foot, but Afterwind is set in modern times, not in the Middle ages. They use APC, helicopters, trains and whatever else to move around as fast as Tanks (if not faster). Just because there are upgrades for Marines, it doesn't mean they necessarily become more powerful than Tanks. It just means that they are rather weak in the beginning, but become more viable with some upgrades.

It sounds good in theory but from what I've seen, the upgrades tip things too far in infantry/marine players advantage. I once fought a guy who was using master of stealth and had many upgrades for his marines. Only way I could beat him is if I had 2 tanks to every 1 of his marines. I can accept that marines/infantry get upgrades cuz by default they're weaker, but when those upgrades make them SO superior to tanks, tanks become the weak ones. I mean the only real advantage tanks get is tank general, but even while using that those upgraded marines slaughtered me. So maybe tank upgrades shouldn't be as numerous or as good, but something would be nice. Or maybe marine upgrades are too strong. All I know is that when I have to outnumber my enemy 2 to 1 in order to win, something is off. Especially since marines shouldn't be able to best tanks. I mean the fact that upgraded marines are superior to tanks kinda defeats that "unique" thing I've read. As is upgraded marines are essentially invisible tanks, but then this is more for that master of stealth topic. In the end, the upgrades don't seem quite balanced. Without upgrades marines are weaker then tanks, but then with upgrades marines are WAY better then tanks, seems like it's either one extreme or the other.

I think you're exaggerating a bit. All Marine upgrades combined add +1 range, -20 cost and +1/+10% ARB. Only the last one is directly related to fighting and only adds a tiny fraction of strength (trust me, ARB doesn't influence a whole lot). You should also remember that Marines have 6 defence, and even more in a city, while tanks have only 5 and no city bonus. So it's in your best interest not to get your Tanks attacked and attack Marines outside cities (which can be hard, admittedly).

That's a little bit of a understatement, its extremely hard in small map/scenario games. You need spend, 400 or is it 600 on stealth detection a unit( not played in sometime) and having enuff tank / troops to buy.

To be honest, dodging the marines while playing Europe for example is a nightmare, hitting them while they jump cities is even harder. The only viable option is using planes en masse, however as a Tank General that isnt really the focus of my troops, especially considering I have to keep other players at bay. Marines are an all rounder at the moment and I truly believe their defense should be lowered but their attack should be at the level of tanks. To compensate you could return the detection values to their original state or give submarines a tiny boost.

I don't know specifics with stats and whatnot, all I know is what I dealt with ingame. And if I attacked him with say, 2 tanks and he had a single marine, my tanks barely won. If I attacked him one on one, I lost every time. Whether he was in a city or not I ALWAYS had to have 2to1 odds in my favor to stand a chance. Now why this is, I assumed was because MoS + other upgrades. But the facts remain the facts, his marines slaughtered my tanks even though I was using tank general. Made me quite sad.

Its not really the marine defence being an issue if a single tank attacked. Most 1 vs 1 fights', the defender wins. I have lost many a tank over a "seem to be easy kill" single militia.
